Beauty To The Mundane: Ross Nicol

We all know the feeling of waking up in the morning and having to drag our ass to whatever obligation we wish we could skip. In the midst of these mundane journeys, we find ourselves with our heads down and minds focused only on what to do after. Living in the fast paced environment that is Brooklyn, New York, photographer Ross Nicol sees this on a daily basis. A photographer looks at the world in a different way because no matter the setting, beauty can always be found. It is the photographers job to capture these moments and share their perspective of the world with those around them. Beautiful moments can be seen especially in Ross’ work because he loves “capturing the perspective of the eye." His favorite subjects to shoot are underwater textures with his Nikonos V - a 35mm underwater film camera - along with landscapes and live concerts. While he travels, Ross is able to see different perspectives of life as he freezes natural candid moments in time. In everyday life it is important to look at the world similarly to a photographer in order to appreciate the beauty that already surrounds you.
